PDF Connect works in all modern browsers. Learn about supported browsers and requirements.

Supported browsers​

Desktop browsers​

Fully supported:

  • ✅ Google Chrome (latest version)
  • ✅ Mozilla Firefox (latest version)
  • ✅ Safari (latest version)
  • ✅ Microsoft Edge (latest version)

Minimum versions:

  • Chrome 90+
  • Firefox 88+
  • Safari 14+
  • Edge 90+

Mobile browsers​

Fully supported:

  • ✅ Safari (iOS)
  • ✅ Chrome (Android)
  • ✅ Chrome (iOS)
  • ✅ Firefox Mobile
  • ✅ Samsung Internet

Minimum versions:

  • iOS Safari 14+
  • Chrome Mobile 90+
  • Android System WebView 90+

Browser requirements​

JavaScript required:

  • PDF viewers use JavaScript
  • Enable JavaScript in browser settings
  • Disable script blockers for your store domain

Cookies enabled:

  • Required for proper functionality
  • Enable first-party cookies minimum
  • Third-party cookies not required

Pop-ups allowed:

  • Button display uses popup overlay
  • Allow popups for your store domain
  • Embedded viewer doesn't need popups

Best experience:

  1. Chrome - Fastest PDF rendering, best compatibility
  2. Safari - Great on Mac and iOS devices
  3. Edge - Excellent on Windows
  4. Firefox - Good all-around performance

Older browsers​

Not supported:

  • Internet Explorer (all versions)
  • Older browser versions (see minimum versions above)
  • Browsers without JavaScript

If using older browser:

  • Update to latest version
  • Switch to modern browser
  • Features may not work correctly

PDF viewer compatibility​

Built-in PDF viewers:

  • Most browsers have built-in PDF support
  • PDF Connect uses these native viewers
  • No plugins required
  • Consistent experience across browsers

Browser PDF plugins:

  • Adobe PDF Reader not required
  • Browser-native viewer works better
  • Disable conflicting PDF extensions if issues occur

Mobile compatibility​

iOS devices:

  • Works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox
  • Full functionality on iPhone and iPad
  • Touch gestures supported
  • Pinch to zoom works

Android devices:

  • Works in Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet
  • Full functionality on phones and tablets
  • Touch gestures supported
  • Consistent with desktop experience

Known browser issues​

Safari private browsing:

  • Some features limited in private mode
  • Use normal browsing for full functionality

Firefox strict privacy:

  • Enhanced Tracking Protection might block features
  • Allow your store domain if issues occur

Chrome Incognito:

  • Works normally
  • No known issues

Testing recommendations​

Test in multiple browsers:

  • Test your PDF display in Chrome and Safari minimum
  • Check mobile Safari (iOS) and Chrome (Android)
  • Verify buttons and viewers work correctly
  • Test download and print functions

  • See which browsers your customers use
  • Prioritize testing in those browsers

Admin compatibility​

Dashboard and app:

  • Works in same browsers as storefront
  • Shopify admin compatibility also required
  • Use modern browser for best admin experience

Upload requirements:

  • Modern browser needed for drag-and-drop
  • File selection works in all supported browsers
  • Upload progress displays correctly

Troubleshooting browser issues​

PDFs don't display:

  • Update browser to latest version
  • Enable JavaScript
  • Allow popups for your domain
  • Clear browser cache
  • Try different browser

Slow performance:

  • Clear browser cache
  • Disable unnecessary extensions
  • Close other tabs
  • Try incognito/private mode

Features don't work:

  • Check JavaScript is enabled
  • Verify cookies are allowed
  • Test in different browser
  • Update to latest browser version

Browser updates​

Keep browsers updated:
