Upload your first PDF

Get started by uploading your first PDF to your library. Thumbnails generate automatically.

Upload a PDF​

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > PDF Connect
  2. Click on the Upload New PDF button from the Quick Actions card, or go to PDF Connect > PDFs and click Upload PDFs in the top right
  3. Drag your PDF file into the upload area (or click to browse)
  4. Wait for the upload to complete

Your PDF appears in your library with an automatically generated thumbnail.

What happens during upload​

When you upload a PDF:

  • The file uploads to secure cloud storage
  • A thumbnail image generates from the first page
  • The PDF appears in your library
  • Status is set to active (but won't show on your store yet)

Tips for better results​

Use clear file names - Name files "product-manual.pdf" not "document1.pdf"

Check file size - Files under 10MB upload fastest

After your first upload​

Your PDF is now in your library, but customers can't see it yet. To make it visible:

  1. Link it to a resource (product, page, etc.)
  2. Change status from Inactive to Active
  3. Add the Theme App Extension to your theme

What you can do with your PDF​

Now that you've uploaded a PDF, you can:

  • Link it to products, collections, pages, or articles
  • Link it to multiple resources at once
  • Upload more PDFs (up to your plan limit)
  • Organize PDFs in your library
