Link PDFs to resources

Attach PDFs to products, collections, pages, articles, blogs, your homepage, or search page.

What linking means

Linking connects a PDF to a page on your store. When customers visit that page, they see the PDF (if it's active and you've added a Theme App Extension).

Products - Attach manuals, size charts, or specs to product pages

Collections - Add catalogs or guides to collection pages

Pages - Include documents on custom pages (About, FAQ, etc.)

Articles - Attach supporting materials to blog posts

Blogs - Add resources to blog overview pages

Homepage - Feature important PDFs on your main page

Search - Show PDFs to customers searching your store

  1. From your PDF library, find the PDF you want to link
  2. Click Link PDF
  3. Select a resource type from the dropdown
  4. Search for the specific resource (product name, page title, etc.)
  5. Click the resource to select it
  6. Click Link PDF

The PDF is now connected to that resource.

You can link the same PDF to as many pages as you want:

  1. Link it to the first resource
  2. Click Link PDF again
  3. Choose a different resource type or different item
  4. Link it there too

Example: Link your return policy PDF to all product pages.

You can attach several PDFs to a single page:

  1. Link the first PDF to your resource
  2. Go back to your library
  3. Select a different PDF
  4. Link it to the same resource

Customers see all linked PDFs in a list (when using the button display style).

See where a PDF is linked:

  1. Click any PDF in your library
  2. Scroll to Linked Resources
  3. View all connections for this PDF

Each link shows the resource type and name.

Quick linking tips

Set up first, activate later - Link PDFs while they're inactive, then activate when ready

Test one link first - Try linking to one product before doing bulk operations

Use descriptive searches - Type part of the product name to find it faster

Check the preview - Make sure you selected the right resource before confirming

Linking vs visibility

Remember: Linking alone doesn't make PDFs visible. For customers to see PDFs, you need:

  1. Link the PDF to a resource ✅
  2. Set PDF status to Active ✅
  3. Add Theme App Extension to your theme ✅

All three must be true for PDFs to appear.
