Multiple PDFs

Link several PDFs to one resource to provide comprehensive information.

Why use multiple PDFs

Customers often need different types of documents:

  • Product manuals + size charts + warranty info
  • Catalog + buying guide + spec sheets
  • FAQ + policies + contact info

Instead of combining everything into one large PDF, link multiple focused PDFs.

How multiple PDFs appear

With button display:

  • Clean list of buttons
  • One button per PDF
  • Customers click the one they need
  • Opens in popup overlay

With embedded viewer:

  • PDFs stack vertically
  • Scroll down to see each one
  • Can make pages very long

Button display works better for multiple PDFs.

  1. Link your first PDF to the resource
  2. Go back to your library
  3. Select the second PDF
  4. Link it to the same resource
  5. Repeat for additional PDFs

All PDFs appear together where you add the Theme App Extension.

Order of PDFs

PDFs display in the order you linked them:

  • First linked appears first
  • Last linked appears last
  • Reorder by unlinking and relinking in desired sequence

Or use the drag-and-drop reorder feature in your PDF library (if available).

Consider usability:

  • 1-3 PDFs - Easy to scan, clear choices
  • 4-6 PDFs - Still manageable, organize well
  • 7+ PDFs - Consider grouping or separate pages

More isn't always better. Link only what customers actually need.

Organize multiple PDFs

Name PDFs clearly

  • "Product Manual"
  • "Size Chart"
  • "Warranty Information"

Put most important first

  • Safety info before optional guides
  • Size charts before styling tips
  • Essential specs before detailed docs

Group related content

  • All manuals together
  • All policies together
  • All guides together

Different PDFs by template

Use template filtering to show different PDF sets on different templates:

Product using "product.clothing" template:

  • Size chart
  • Care instructions

Same product using "product.detailed" template:

  • Size chart
  • Care instructions
  • Fabric guide
  • Styling tips

Performance with multiple PDFs

Keep total size reasonable

  • 3 × 2MB PDFs = 6MB total (good)
  • 10 × 5MB PDFs = 50MB total (too much)

Use button display

  • Customers only load PDFs they open
  • Faster page load times
  • Better mobile experience

Optimize each PDF

  • Compress files before upload
  • Remove unnecessary pages
  • Use appropriate quality settings

Tips for multiple PDFs

Test the experience

  • View as a customer would
  • Try on mobile device
  • Check load times
  • Make sure all PDFs are necessary

Update together

  • When you update one manual, check if others need updates
  • Keep related PDFs consistent
  • Version numbers help track updates

Monitor usage

  • Track which PDFs customers actually open
  • Remove PDFs that no one uses
  • Add PDFs based on customer questions
